Finding and Reviving Vintage Clothing

Michelle Eigenberger & Sarah Busch

Bolted Vintage & SarahBelle Alterations & Designs

Ever walk into a thrift store and feel totally overwhelmed and unprepared? Or unpack your thrifted finds just to realized the clothes you bought have damage? Build the skills you need to hunt down the best vintage clothing by learning the secrets of dating and identifying vintage clothing from the 1920s to the 1970s with vintage retailer and expert Michelle Eigenberger of Bolted Vintage. PLUS! Learn how to rescue and restore those vintage finds by making simple fixes and repairs to buttons, seams, hems and more with tailor & seamstress extraordinaire Sarah Busch of SarahBelle Alternations & Design. Workshop attendees should be prepared for hands-on activities including dating various vintage garments, learning hand stitching techniques and quick fixes. All supplies will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring an item of vintage clothing they would like help dating and an item of clothing that is in need of a small-to-moderate repair (no zippers, denim or heavy canvas).

This workshop is presented as part of Riverwest FemFest. Woodland Pattern will host one other FemFest workshop - "What's So Bad About the F-Word?" - on Friday, January 20 from 6-8 PM.

FemFest is an annual festival and fundraiser in the Riverwest community in Milwaukee, WI, celebrating talented and strong women, femmes, and feminine identifying groups though music, visual and performance art and poetry.
