Formations Series for New and Improvised Music

Set 1 Mark Mantel

Composer Mark Mantel will perform his work, A Parting/A Joining (the recollection of A Parting) for percussion, wind instruments and spoken word.  The text is a six part poem, recited live as such, surrounded by improvised music on 4 percussion stations with various wind instruments.

Set 2 Moss/Reinholz/Clark

Tally Moss (voice), Patrick Reinholz (cello) and Barry Paul Clark (double bass) first performed in a trio iteration at the 5 year anniversary of the monthly improvised music event Unrehearsed MKE in February 2018, where the round robin style format of that event found the three musicians sharing the stage during the long form improvisation performance.

Tally Moss (BFA 2017, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) is a composer, vocalist+, and improviser. She creates meaningful juxtapositions of vocal techniques, and often further explores timbre through the use of electronics. Her work strives to create connection and community through sonic means.

Patrick Reinholz (B.M. 2010 University of Wisconsin - Madison) is an active cellist, improvisor, composer, arranger, and educator. A frequent member of one-off musical events, he is also a consistent member of Tontine Ensemble, Strangelander, Lovely Socialite, and Lady Cannon. His recorded cello can also be heard on releases for artists such as Field Report, Anna Vogelzang, and others.

Barry Paul Clark (BM 2009, Mannes College of Music - New School University, NYC) is a classically trained bassist, composer, improviser and educator. Section bassist in Festival City Symphony, Kenosha Symphony Orchestra, and Wisconsin Philharmonic and has been a featured artist with Florentine Opera. He teaches privately at West End Conservatory, as support staff for the Hartford Union High School orchestra, and adjunct faculty at Cardinal Stritch University. He co-curates the monthly improvised music series Unrehearsed MKE. He is a member of Tontine Ensemble, Argopelter, Lady Cannon, adoptahighway and Field Report (Verve Forecast- Universal Music Group)
