International Mother Language Day Reading *ONLINE*
Featuring Peter BurzyĆski, Nina Ghanbarzadeh, Ae Hee Lee, Margaret Noodin, and more!
Group Poetry Reading in celebration of International Mother Language Day presented by Write On, Door County in partnership with Chippewa Valley Writers Guild, Driftless Writing Center, Lake Superior Writers, Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission, and Woodland Pattern.
A full list of readers is forthcoming. This event will be held online on Zoom.
ATTENDParticipating readers are people based here in Wisconsin whose first language is not English, and who will present poems in their mother tongue. International Mother Language Day promotes awareness of cultural and linguistic diversity, and this reading extends that awareness to the poets and writers based here in Wisconsin. This event also invites people to discover a deeper appreciation for poetry through relying first on the rhythm and music of poems as the devices that move you, rather than on the words themselves.Â
About International Mother Language Day:
