Reading Group: George Oppen’s “Of Being Numerous” *IN PERSON*

In person at Woodland Pattern on Sat. Nov. 1 (CDT) & 8 (CST) | 2–4 PM

In anticipation of Present Music’s upcoming concert, Thanksgiving: Of Being Numerous, we’ll host a reading group focused on George Oppen’s long poem, “Of Being Numerous.” In the style of our bi-weekly Readshop group, participants in this two-week group will take turns reading sections of Oppen’s poem aloud, discussing it as questions arise. Poet and Woodland Pattern co-founder, Karl Gartung, will guide participants through the text, and offer some supplemental information and suggestions for further reading. Additionally, there will be a chance to hear a recording of the poem read by Oppen himself.
