World Nature Conservation Day Reading with Lisa Fishman *IN-PERSON*

World Nature Conservation Day Reading with Lisa Fishman, author of Mad World, Mad Kings, Mad Composition (Wave Books, 2020)

@ Lakeshore State Park (500 N Harbor Dr, Milwaukee, WI 53202)

Presented as part of Black Box Fund’s Out of the Box series, and on the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day. The reading will be hosted in Lakeshore State Park at the site of REbirth, an installation of giant swallows created out of re-purposed plastic by the Italian art collective Cracking Art. This is the first temporary public project in the park and is a response to the global climate crisis. Please join us with a blanket or chair and come sit among the birds for an evening of poetry from Lisa Fishman.

Lisa Fishman is the author of seven collections of poetry, most recently Mad World, Mad Kings, Mad Composition (Wave Books, 2020). Earlier books include 24 Pages and other poems—also from Wave—and F L O W E R C A R T and The Happiness Experiment, both from Ahsahta Press. Her work is anthologized in Best American Experimental Writing, The Ecopoetry Anthology, The Arcadia Project: North American Postmodern Pastoral, and elsewhere. A Pushcart Prize nominee and a PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize nominee, Fishman is a dual Canadian/US writer who divides her time between Nova Scotia and her farm in Wisconsin and teaches at Columbia College Chicago. Her debut fiction collection, World Naked Bike Ride, is forthcoming on Gaspereau Press.
